District 3 Traffic Impact Report for the week of September 3, 2012

District 3 Traffic Impact Report

  KYTC District 3:  Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Logan, Metcalfe, Monroe, Simpson, Todd and Warren Counties

  Interstate / Parkway Systems

  •  

        I-65 - Reconstruction from four to six lanes in Edmonson and Barren - Louie B. Nunn Parkway to Park City (MP 43-48) – Paving work from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm

        Widening to six lanes continues for this section of I-65. There will be paving operations adjacent to southbound  and northbound traffic with barrels only for separation, motorists should use caution. Two lanes of traffic will be open in each direction while this work is performed.  There will be ongoing work on KY 255 under the interstate bridge and around the ramps.  Traffic will have lane shifts and flaggers at different times throughout the week.  Completion is still expected this fall.

        I-65 - Reconstruction from four to six lanes for north and southbound lanes in Barren - Park City to Cave City (MP 48-53)

      Widening to six lanes continues for this section of I-65 with two lanes of traffic open for each direction. Crews will continue  working on the median and  shoulders around the center pier at Cave City/Exit 53.  Crews will have a lane closure in place Tuesday night from 5:00 pm until 7:00 am for paving northbound, striping and switching traffic. Another lane closure will be in place Wednesday night from 7:00 pm until 7:00 am for additional paving  northbound. Completion is expected in the fall of 2013.

       

  Allen County

  •  

        KY 98 –Bays Fork Creek (MP 1.8)

      The project is completed except for final stabilization of slopes and corrective items. 

       

Barren County

  •  

      US 68X/Columbia Avenue – Lane closure from East Front Street to Davis Street until August 31

      Crews will replace old concrete gutter as well as make joint repairs. Flaggers will have traffic pushed down to one lane in each direction and may remain in place 24/7 throughout the duration of this work. Motorists can expect delays during peak travel times and may wish to seek alternate routes.

 

        KY 90 – New Construction: Grade & Drain with Surfacing – Lane closure from 6:30 am until 5:00 pm

      Crews will be flagging traffic on the new Siloam Church Road, Adam McCreary Road, and Green Valley Drive daily from 6:30 am – 5:00 pm for building embankments and constructing the asphalt base portion of the road bed. Work on the bridge adjacent to Siloam Road has began.  Detour / New Siloam road will be utilized and traffic should use this route. Completion for the entire project is slated for fall of 2013.

 

        US 31W – Installation of traffic loops, milling and paving – 6:30 am until 4:30 pm

      Crews will be installing traffic loops, milling and paving between the KY 90/US 31W intersection and Gillenwater Street in Cave City. Traffic will be pushed down to one lane while this work is performed between 6:30 am and 4:30 pm. Flaggers will be on site to direct traffic. This project should be completed by September 7.

 

            KY 255  New Construction  Bridge over CSX railroad in Park City

            The new alignment has been opened to traffic. The old at grade rail road crossing is closed to traffic and will be converted to a pedestrian crossing. Crews will be installing signs along new alignment

            so flagging may be utilized at times.      

Edmonson County 

  •  

      KY 2330  Maintenance

      Crews will be replacing asphalt base between KY 187 and KY 1075 on Tuesday and Wednesday. The work will require temporary lane closures and should be completed by the end of the day on Wednesday.

      KY 1749 - Maintenance

      Crews will be installing channel lining in a washed out ditch line between John Miller Road and Arthur Road on Thursday and Friday. The work will require temporary lane closures  and should be completed by the end of the day on Friday. 

  

Logan County

  •  

      KY 178 – Traffic pushed down to one lane between the Todd County line and the Russellville Bypass between 6:00 am and 5:00 pm

      Crews will replace entrance pipes and extend culverts along the eight mile section of roadway. Flaggers will be on site to direct traffic while this work is done. The project is tentatively scheduled for completion on September 30.

 

Monroe County

        KY 163 – New Construction: Grade & Drain with Surfacing – One lane of traffic between 6:00 am and 5:00 pm

      Crews will continue work on building and hauling embankment and will have flaggers at the intersections of the new Cyclone Road approach, Apple Grove intersection, and Humes Road intersections. Humes Road will also have flaggers and crews working to build a new approach and traffic should expect delays.  Flaggers will be on site during these operations as well. Project completion is expected for summer of 2013.  

 

Warren County

  •  

      KY 2158/Cumberland Trace – Lane closure Monday thru Friday (8:30 am – 5:00 pm) and Saturday (6:30 am – 3:00 pm)

      Crews will continue placing sod and seeding from Scottsville Road to just south of Cemetery Roadalong both sides of the highway. Crews will also be on the project to finish permanent striping at various locations on the project.  No major encroachments on traffic are expected. Completion is expected in fall of 2012.

       

I-65/Scottsville Road Interchange

  •  

      Several work items will be taking place at various locations around the interchange. Crews will be will be working on storm sewer and median barrier near the north and south approaches to the new Scottsville Road bridge over I-65. In the area of the new ramps on the northbound side of the bridge,they will be removing temporary pavement to install signal pole bases, and to finish grade work for the new ramps. 

      Crews will be paving I-65 ramps and Scottsville Road approaches to the US 231 bridge as well asworking on the signals at Scottsville Road/Cumberland Trace and Scottsville Road/Three Springs Road.  They will also be boring storm sewer pipe underneath Scottsville Road north of the new bridge.

      All of these activities will have no encroachment on traffic but motorists should take precaution for construction vehicles entering and exiting the construction zone.

       

      Beginning Tuesday morning, crews will be laying storm sewer pipe across the northbound entrance to I-HOP/Drury Inn/Outback Steakhouse.  This entrance will be closed half at a time while the storm sewer is placed.  Flaggers will be present to control traffic entering and exiting these properties.

       

        Beginning Thursday night from 9:00 pm to 7:00 am, crews will be laying storm sewer pipe across the entrance to Ken Bale Blvd. Flaggers will be onsite to direct traffic during this time.

      Completion is expected in late fall of 2012.

       

      US 31W/Nashville Road  Widening/Reconstruction between the William H. Natcher Parkway and McLellan Road

      Crews will continue excavating the widened areas on Nashville road north of the new railroad bridge up to Memphis Junction Road on both the left and right sides of the roadway. Crews will also be placing pavement materials in these areas. No encroachment on traffic is expected. Motorists should take precaution for construction vehicles entering and exiting the construction zone. Completion is expected in the spring of 2013.

       

Please note this information contains state maintained routes only.  Work schedules quickly and often do change because of weather and other factors.  Other work (including mowing/utility maintenance) may not be included in this report due to the rapid nature in which these activities take place and move from one location to another.
