Section of Craintown Road in Marion County to close June 1
From the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Department of Highways District 4:
ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (May 24, 2010) — A section of Craintown Road near U.S. 68 in Marion County, near the Boyle County line, will be closed throughout the summer as crews construct two concrete bridges and realign the U.S. 68 approach.
The roadway will be closed from June 1 to Sept. 15. Motorists can detour via Crain School Road and Short Line Road, in Boyle County. The detour route is signed.
Together the bridge replacements will cost about $388,000. The work is part of a $6.7 million, 2.6-mile reconstruction of U.S. 68 from KY 243, in Marion County, to about a half-mile west of KY 34, in Boyle County.

Danville By-pass to be Widened
The construction phase of a project to widen the southern portion of the Danville by-pass to four lanes may begin this spring. Bid will be let for the project is month.

Bypass at the Top of Perryville Priority List
Perryville city leaders would like to see a bypass constructed around the city; however, no such plan is currently included in the Six Year Highway Plan. Local leaders believe a bypass would help relieve traffic problems through Perryville’s downtown.

US 68 Yard Sale June 3-6
This summer will see an event known as “400 Miles of Antiques, Collectibles & Stuff” along nearly 400-miles of US 68 Kentucky. The event will be held June 3-6 and involve events along in 24 counties along US 68’s route.

KYTC Studies Danville Northeast Connector Route
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Division of Planning is conducting a study concerning a new route connecting KY 33 north of Danville to US 150 east of Danville in Boyle County.

Section of US 68 in Mercer County to Close for Construction
A project to re-align part of US 68 in Mercer County will involve a temporary closure of the road. A detour will be posted along KY 33 and KY 152 between Harrodsburg and Shaker Village. The landscaping for the project will involve the planting of 140 trees of 12 different native species. The road closed on Aug. 1 and will re-open by December 1.
Another section of US 68 in Boyle County was closed for culvert replacement on Aug. 6.

Danville Viaduct Expected to Re-open by Sept. 1; Work Will Complete Sept. 15
The Danville Advocate Messenger
reported on July 29, 2003 that work to rebuild the US 150 Danville viaduct should be complete by September 15 and that it should re-open to traffic by September 1. The viaduct originally opened in 1949. Years of salt and traffic have caused the concrete to deteriorate, and the Transportation Cabinet is replacing the viaduct as a preventative measure. The viaduct will retain its original arched architecture.
Bridge Work on Kentucky 52 in Boyle County

reported on July 16, 2003 that road crews would be repairing a bridge on KY 52 two miles east of US 150 in Boyle County. The concrete deck of the bridge is being completely replaced.
Perryville Bypass Being Studied
The Perryville Community Development Commission is studying a bypass around the historic district of Perryville.
