The Sherman Minton Bridge west of downtown Louisville carries Interstate 64 and US 150 over the Ohio River into Indiana, just west of the western terminus of Interstate 264. The double-decked dual suspended arch bridge was completed in 1962 and is named for Sherman Minton, a U.S. Senator and Supreme Court Justice from Indiana. The American Institute of Steel Construction named the bridge the Most Beautiful Bridge in the Long Span catergory in 1961. (Design: Hazelet & Erdal, Louisville; Cost: $14.8 million in 1962)
