Posted: 17-Aug-2009 10:25PM CDT

The Mountain Parkway is currently being widened between exits 43 and 46 near Campton. Several bridges and ramps will be replaced as part of this widening project.

From Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Department of Highways District 10 on July 13, 2009:

Bear Branch Road in Wolfe County to close on July 20
Closing related to Mountain Parkway widening project
JACKSON, KY – Beginning Monday, July 20, Bear Branch Road in Wolfe County will be closed at the Mountain Parkway overpass near Campton Lake. This closure will last for an extended period of time, and is related to the ongoing project to widen the Mountain Parkway to four lanes between Exit 43 and Exit 46.
During the closure, a new bridge will be constructed for Mountain Parkway traffic. The existing bridge will then be demolished and a new one will be built to replace it, enabling four-lane traffic when the project is completed.
Motorists needing access to Bear Branch Road on the north side of the Mountain Parkway will need to use KY 746 and Calaboose Ridge Road while the closure is in effect.

From Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Department of Highways District 10 on July 23, 2009:

Ramp from Spur KY 15 to Mountain Parkway in Wolfe County to close for two weeks beginning Monday, Aug. 3
Traffic to be detoured along KY 15 from Campton to Pine Ridge
JACKSON, KY – Beginning Monday, Aug. 3, the ramp from northbound Spur KY 15 to the Mountain Parkway westbound north of Campton will be closed for appoximately two weeks. During this time, the old bridge carrying the ramp over the Mountain Parkway will be demolished, and the approaches to the new bridge for the ramp will be completed.
Traffic between the intersection of KY 15 and KY 191 in Campton and the intersection of Spur KY 15 and KY 1653 (Quillins Chapel Road) should not be affected.
This closure is related to the ongoing project to widen the Mountain Parkway to four lanes between Exit 43 and Exit 46, and to improve the interchange between the Mountain Parkway and Spur KY 15.
Northbound traffic from Campton, Jackson and Hazard wishing to proceed onto the Mountain Parkway westbound toward Stanton, Winchester and Lexington will be detoured onto KY 15 at Campton, and will be able to enter the Mountain Parkway at Exit 40 at Pine Ridge. This detour will be signed for the benefit of through traffic.
Eastbound Mountain Parkway traffic wishing to proceed south on KY 15 to Campton and points south will not be affected, and will continue to be able to use Exit 43.
During this time, motorists using the Mountain Parkway beneath the old and new bridges should be prepared to encounter delays and traffic pattern changes until the new overpass is put into service.
