From Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3:

Traffic Signal Removal Scheduled at U.S. 31-EX and Front Street in Glasgow
Evaluation confirms intersection will remain an all-way stop
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (Oct. 6, 2026) — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has completed its evaluation of the U.S. 31-EX (Race Street) and Front Street intersection in Glasgow in Barren County. The evaluation determined the intersection will remain an all-way stop, and the traffic signal will be removed.
The signal is scheduled for removal Wednesday, Oct. 7. The signal was switched to flashing red when the evaluation began in April. Stop signs and message boards were installed to alert motorists to the change.

The evaluation was prompted by a utility company moving lines to new poles, which would require the traffic signals to be relocated. Preliminary data collected before the evaluation showed traffic counts at the intersection no longer met federal guidelines for a traffic signal, prompting the evaluation to determine whether an all-way stop would meet traffic flow needs. The full evaluation confirmed the preliminary data.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will continue to monitor traffic conditions at the intersection to ensure the all-way stop continues to provide safe and efficient traffic flow.
