The project to construct a new alignment for US 60 in Ballard County and McCracken County is nearing completion. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 1's traffic impact report for Oct. 11–17 says part of the new U.S. 60 alignment has opened to traffic, and the project is expected to be finished in November. Drivers should expect various traffic shifts as construction continues.

Until then, old U.S. 60 is blocked just west of E. Clarkline Road in Kevil, and KY 995 (Rice Springs Road) is temporarily blocked at old U.S. 60 until mid-October while crews build its connection to the new alignment.

The full District 1 report, which also covers work zones on I-24, I-69 and roads across the district, is posted as District 1 Roadshow: Traffic Impact Report for Oct. 11-17. KentuckyRoads.com first reported on a planning study for improvements to US 60 at the Ballard-McCracken County line in January 2002.
