TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Overnight Ramp Closure on I-64 East Beginning Friday, Oct. 23, in Shelby County
Contract crews to open newly reconstructed ramp

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Oct. 19, 2026) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of an upcoming overnight ramp closure on Interstate 64 East beginning Friday, Oct. 23, as part of the $118 million widening and improvement project of I-64 in Shelby County .

The existing eastbound off-ramp at Exit 35 (KY 53 – Mt. Eden Road) will be closed from 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 23, to 5 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 26. The ramp closure is necessary for contract crews to install pavement tie-ins to open a newly reconstructed ramp.

The city of La Grange has hired the firm CDP Engineers to develop two alternatives for changes to downtown streets that will be required when the CSX railroad through La Grange is rebuilt. CSX had planned to begin work to remove the street running track through La Grange as early as July; however, it now appears the work will be delayed.

A developer who plans to build a 158-home subdivision near the KY 53 and I-71 interchange has agreed to add a new northbound lane to KY 53 on the south side of LaGrange.
