KY 884

Three road widening projects are under way in Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3, according to its traffic impact report for Oct. 18–23:

• US 31 (U.S. 31-W Bypass), Bowling Green: widening to five lanes from KY 234 to Park Street in northern Bowling Green, expected to be completed in 2027. Through the construction zone, traffic is narrowed to one lane in each direction with a center turn lane.
• KY 884, Bowling Green: widening to three lanes from McCoy Place to Fieldstone Boulevard has started, with a roundabout at Smallhouse Road, sidewalks on both sides and a new bridge over I-165.
• US 79, Todd County: widening from the Tennessee state line to mile marker 3.

A safety project on U.S. 31-E in Barren County also includes minor widening, to create a 4-foot buffer between opposing lanes.

Construction started in mid-July to widen KY 884 (Three Springs Road) in Bowling Green from McCoy Place to Fieldstone Boulevard to three lanes, with a center turn lane, a single-lane roundabout at Smallhouse Road, sidewalks on both sides, a new bridge over I-165, and a turn lane for Foundation Christian Academy. District 3 Engineer Joe Plunk said growth in the area "has simply outpaced the current transportation infrastructure." The existing I-165 bridge will stay open until traffic shifts to the new one.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Department of Highways District 3 Office advises motorists to be aware of a speed limit reduction on Three Springs Road (KY 884) in Warren County.

The speed limit will be reduced from 55 mph to 45 mph from the Minit Mart to 500 feet past the Long Road/Neal Howell Road intersection. At that point it will change to 55 mph.

Variable message boards will be posted in the area alerting motorists of this change that will go into effect on Friday.

A Kentucky Transportation Cabinet planning study recommends that no interchange be built between Elrod Road and Natcher Parkway near the parkway's terminus at I-65. The study was undertaken after a previous study found the construction of an interchange between the parkway and KY 884-Three Springs Road to be infeasible.

The KYTC has posted materials from an October 11 public meeting concerning KY 884 in Warren County 

The Daily News of Bowling Green reports in this Oct. 10, 2001 article  that the KYTC is planning a day long open house to share information about planned improvements to KY 884 between US 231 and that Natcher Parkway in Warren County.
